Day Three Plan
Rt 12 all the way to Ann Arbor. 4 rest stops then...Founder Matt Schueler has made arrangements for us to arrive at "The Big House" University of Michigan Stadium. Plan is to take pictures on the field. How cool is that.

The Route

Day Two New Buffalo to Coldwater
Tailwinds. Generally our average pace is about 15mph. Riding along flat ground we usually see 16-17mph on our bike computers. 10-14 mph on hills. As the day progressed the speeds began increasing 20, 22, 25+. During the third section of the day I was pedaling with four others at speeds in excess of 28-32mph. I don't know how fast the tailwind was pushing but I think it had something to do with our speeds.

There was a Fire Engine send off from New Buffalo then a Fire Engine escort through through Niles and a Fire Engine escort into Coldwater. We had dinner at the Coldwater firehouse. Burgers on the grill. These guys have some serious connections.

At our mile 60 rest stop dark sky's moved in and it stormed. Heavy winds and rain came down for 30 minutes or so. We stayed at the stop waiting for the rain to let up.  A few anxious riders decided to brave the rain and head off to finish the stretch into Coldwater. News came back about 5 minutes later that one of the riders hit a water filled pothole he couldn't see and crashed. No broken bones but a few stitches in his elbow and some road rash. He's ok but can expect some soreness in the coming days.
